Overview
We spent quite a while choosing which horror escape room to try in Kyiv and eventually booked Shutter Island 2.0 with a live actor. We expected a traditional escape room with a few scary moments, but the experience turned out to be far more immersive. From the very beginning, the psychiatric hospital setting, dim lighting, unsettling sounds and detailed scenery created constant tension.
The live actor deserves special mention. Instead of simply appearing for occasional jump scares, the character is integrated into the storyline and helps move the experience forward. The physical interaction is light and controlled: the actor may gently touch a player’s hand or shoulder, but there is no rough or painful contact. Even so, every unexpected appearance creates a genuine rush of adrenaline.
The puzzles are logical, varied and naturally connected to the story. The game involves more than searching for keys and opening locks. Players need to explore the surroundings carefully, notice small details, analyse clues and work together as a team. Hints are available when needed, which makes the escape room suitable for both experienced players and first-time horror escape room visitors.
The venue also feels impressively spacious. The adventure takes place across several themed rooms with a total area of more than 60 m². Each room has its own atmosphere and visual details, so the game remains varied and engaging throughout. Moving into a new area is both exciting and unsettling because you never know exactly what is waiting beyond the next door.
The experience lasts 75 minutes, although the time passes surprisingly quickly. The suspense continues until the final moments, and after the game we kept discussing the storyline, puzzles and the actor’s most memorable appearances.
If you are looking for a horror escape room with a live actor in Kyiv that combines suspense, storytelling, detailed scenery and engaging puzzles, Shutter Island 2.0 is definitely worth considering. It delivered the strong emotions we expected from a horror experience while still offering a well-designed escape room adventure.
